Cherry bomb

It's a red Avadavat sitting on a weed in the Surajpur wetlands in Greater Noida. It's a male, usually the nail in this bird species are bright red in colour with white dotted underbelly and female are brown and red in colour. This bird usually nests and in long grasses and weeds which sometimes grow near water bodies or in open area. Usually they prefer to live in groups and feed on small insects and seeds.
